What is RDP?

RDP stands for relevant daily pay. RDP is used in leave calculations. It means paying an employee what they would have earned had they been at work on the day leave was taken. Here is what's included and excluded, according to Employment New Zealand.

Included in RDP

  • Payments such as regular (taxable) allowances, commissions and bonuses if the employee would have received them on the relevant day.

  • Overtime payments if the employee would have received them on the relevant day.

  • The cash value of board or lodgings if this has been provided by the employer.

Excluded from RDP

  • Employer contribution payments into an employee superannuation fund.

  • Reimbursements payable to the worker for the day.
