How the system calculates and stores the ADP value

The system will calculate and store the ADP value each pay period in the leave history as follows:

Daily ADP value = gross earnings 52-weeks total / ADP days 52-weeks total

Here's that again, this time expressed as actual Affinity fields:

PHOL.ADP_DAY_VALUE = PHOL.GROSS_52WEEK_EARNINGS / PHOL.ADP_DAYS_52WK_TOT

How the ADP daily rate is applied to leave payments

The system will use the following logic to pay employees who are configured to be paid ADP rates:

IF leave type is in days THEN ADP rate = 'daily ADP value' from pay period end immediately prior to date of leave taken

IF leave type is in hours THEN ADP rate = 'daily ADP value' from pay period end immediately prior to date of leave taken / scheduled hours on date of leave

In the above, the units for 'scheduled hours on date of leave' are derived from:

The T&A rules interpreted by Affinity Time and Attendance (if in place for the employee on the date in question), or
The net scheduled hours to pay as per the employee's work schedule.
- If there is no work schedule assigned to the employee on the date, the employee's standard hours per day are used.

Leave types in hours that use daily ADP rates are uncommon but not impossible. They're a little unusual because FBAPS leave under the New Zealand Holidays Act 2003 is referred to in days units. Here are the acceptable exceptions:

Public holidays worked. It's possible to manage this leave type in days but it is more commonly managed in hours because it's not 'leave taken' as such, it is more 'hours that have been worked'.
Public holidays not worked. Again, this leave type can be managed in days but it's more common for employers to manage it in hours.
Any discretionary leave type. This means any discretionary leave type that is provided by an employer (not covered by the Act) and is to be paid at FBAPS rates under their agreement with the employee. An example is where an employer has a policy where employees receive birthday leave and this leave type is managed in hours and paid at FBAPS rates.

Where ADP values are displayed

The system will display accumulated ADP days values in the following fields in the leave history masterfile (Detail History tab): Daily ADP Value and ADP Days 52-Week Total.
