Compliance documentation

Leave compliance in New Zealand is governed by:

  • The New Zealand Holidays Act 2003, or

  • Other New Zealand legislation, or

  • By agreement with individual employees.

Covered by the holidays act

FBAPS leave types are covered by the New Zealand Holidays Act 2003:

  • Family Violence Leave

  • Bereavement Leave

  • Alternative Leave

  • Public Holidays (Worked & Not Worked)

  • Sick Leave

The Act also covers:

  • Annual Leave

  • Employment Relations Education Leave

Covered by other leave legislation

  • Parental Leave Unpaid

  • Parental Leave - Negotiated Carer Leave Unpaid

  • Parental Leave - Keeping-in-Touch Hours

  • Parental Leave - Partners Leave Unpaid

  • Parental Leave - Special Pregnancy Leave Unpaid

  • Time Off to Vote Paid

  • Jury Service Leave Unpaid

  • Civil Defence Leave Unpaid

  • Volunteers Leave Unpaid

  • ACC Leave (Paid and Unpaid)

Other unpaid leave
